Broward County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 3.4 percent in September 2024. This rate was 0.3 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.1 percent. The region's September 2024 unemployment rate was equal to the state rate of 3.4 percent. The labor force was 1,097,440, up 685 (+0.1 percent) over the year. There were 36,834 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In September 2024, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano BeachDeerfield Beach MD was 932,100, an increase of 21,100 jobs (+2.3 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+4,700 jobs); Government (+4,600 jobs); Construction (+4,500 jobs); Other Services (+3,700 jobs); Education and Health Services (+3,100 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+1,800 jobs); and Professional and Business Services (+200 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 3.6 percent in September 2024. This rate was 0.3 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.3 percent. The region's September 2024 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point above the state rate of 3.4 percent. The labor force was 782,410, down 1,662 (-0.2 percent) over the year. There were 28,090 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In September 2024, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 700,200, an increase of 13,700 jobs (+2.0 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+4,000 jobs); Construction (+2,900 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+2,600 jobs); Government (+2,600 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+1,700 jobs); and Manufacturing (+100 jobs).

    Miami-Dade County¹

    • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade County) was 2.1 percent in September 2024. This rate was 0.3 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 1.8 percent. The region's September 2024 unemployment rate was 1.3 percentage points lower than the state rate of 3.4 percent. The labor force was 1,402,226, up 22,052 (+1.6 percent) over the year. There were 28,779 unemployed residents in the region.
    • In September 2024, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,331,500, an increase of 28,200 jobs (+2.2 percent) over the year.
    • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+7,500 jobs); Mining, Logging, and Construction (+6,400 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+6,300 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+5,300 jobs); Government (+2,400 jobs); and Other Services (+2,300 jobs).
