Broward County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 3.3 percent in October 2024. This rate was 0.2 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.1 percent. The region's October 2024 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.5 percent. The labor force was 1,093,498, down 5,178 (- 0.5 percent) over the year. There were 36,572 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In October 2024, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano BeachDeerfield Beach MD was 937,200, an increase of 15,500 jobs (+1.7 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Government (+4,400 jobs); Other Services (+4,100 jobs); Construction (+2,500 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+2,300 jobs); Education and Health Services (+2,300 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+1,000 jobs); and Professional and Business Services (+800 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 3.5 percent in October 2024. This rate was 0.2 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.3 percent. The region's October 2024 unemployment rate was equal to the state rate of 3.5 percent. The labor force was 779,772, down 6,709 (-0.9 percent) over the year. There were 27,449 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In October 2024, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 703,700, an increase of 8,300 jobs (+1.2 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+3,300 jobs); Government (+2,600 jobs); Construction (+1,900 jobs); Other Services (+800 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+300 jobs); and Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+100 jobs).

    Miami-Dade County¹

    • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade County) was 2.2 percent in October 2024. This rate was 0.5 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 1.7 percent. The region's October 2024 unemployment rate was 1.3 percentage points lower than the state rate of 3.5 percent. The labor force was 1,395,452, up 18,868 (+1.4 percent) over the year. There were 30,681 unemployed residents in the region.
    • In October 2024, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,339,800, an increase of 21,500 jobs (+1.6 percent) over the year.
    • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+7,000 jobs); Mining, Logging, and Construction (+5,900 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+3,900 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+3,400 jobs); Government (+1,600 jobs); Other Services (+1,500 jobs); and Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+1,200 jobs).
