Below is the latest data released by FloridaCommerce for Broward County's March 2024 unemployment rate. Also included is information for the South Florida area.

Broward County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 3.2 percent in March 2024. This rate was 0.6 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.6 percent. The region's March 2024 unemployment rate was 0.1 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.3 percent. The labor force was 1,097,797, up 20,499 (+1.9 percent) over the year. There were 35,320 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In March 2024, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach MD was 927,700, an increase of 18,200 jobs (+2.0 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+5,400 jobs); Education and Health Services (+4,700 jobs); Government (+4,600 jobs); Other Services (+3,700 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+3,000 jobs); and Construction (+1,200 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 3.3 percent in March 2024. This rate was 0.6 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.7 percent. The region's March 2024 unemployment rate was equal to the state rate of 3.3 percent. The labor force was 786,678, up 9,811 (+1.3 percent) over the year. There were 26,292 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In March 2024, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 700,600, an increase of 9,900 jobs (+1.4 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+6,900 jobs); Government (+3,100 jobs); Construction (+2,300 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+1,700 jobs); and Manufacturing (+700 jobs).

    Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties¹

    • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade and Monroe counties) was 2.0 percent in March 2024. This rate was equal to the region's year ago rate of 2.0 percent. The region's March 2024 unemployment rate was 1.3 percentage points lower than the state rate of 3.3 percent. The labor force was 1,445,087, up 16,817 (+1.2 percent) over the year. There were 29,358 unemployed residents in the region.
    • Miami-Dade County had the lowest unemployment rate (2.0 percent) in the CareerSource South Florida region followed by Monroe County (2.1 percent).
    • In March 2024, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,330,200, an increase of 38,400 jobs (+3.0 percent) over the year.
    • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Leisure and Hospitality (+11,300 jobs); Education and Health Services (+9,800 jobs); Mining, Logging, and Construction (+4,900 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+2,900 jobs); Financial Activities (+2,800 jobs); Government (+2,700 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+2,000 jobs); Manufacturing (+1,500 jobs); and Other Services (+1,300 jobs).
