CareerSource Broward Hosts 2nd Annual Worlds of Work Career Expo for Local High School Students

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (March 7, 2025) – CareerSource Broward, in partnership with the Broward County School Board, is thrilled to present the 2nd annual Worlds of Work (WOW) Career Expo—a one-of-a-kind opportunity for 1,200+ 9th and 10th grade high school students to explore dynamic career paths through immersive, hands-on experiences. Taking place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Amerant Bank Arena, this event brings together 50+ top employers eager to inspire the future workforce of Broward County.

“Providing students with real-world career experiences is key to preparing them for success,” said Carol Hylton, President/CEO of CareerSource Broward. “Worlds of Work allows them to explore high-growth industries firsthand, sparking interest and expanding their understanding of the many career possibilities available to them right here in Broward County.”

At WOW, students will step into twelve interactive ‘worlds’ representing key industries such as healthcare, aviation, technology, transportation, public safety, and more. Exhibitors will engage students with live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and real-world career experiences—from operating robots to piloting aircraft simulators and exploring cutting-edge medical technology. In addition, this year introduces three brand-new “worlds” focused on Education, Government, and Professional Services, offering even more career pathways for students to discover.

"For students to realize their full potential, they need awareness of the many opportunities available to them,” said Dean Trantalis, Mayor of the City of Fort Lauderdale and Chairman of CareerSource Broward’s Council of Elected Officials. "WOW helps students see what’s possible and gives them a head start in making choices that will shape their future.”

“Investing in career exploration for students today strengthens the workforce of tomorrow,” said Jim Ryan, Chairman of the Broward Workforce Development Board. “WOW connects young minds with industry leaders, giving them invaluable insight into the skills and careers that will drive Broward County’s economy in the years ahead.”

More than 70 interactive exhibits will showcase careers that are driving Broward County’s economy, with participation from leading employers. This high-energy career exploration event is made possible through the commitment of local businesses and community leaders who are invested in the success of Broward County’s youth.

“Worlds of Work is more than just an event—it’s an eye-opening experience that introduces students to industries and career paths they may have never considered,” said Dr. Howard Hepburn, Superintendent of Broward County Public Schools. "By engaging with professionals, trying out hands-on activities, and seeing their potential career paths firsthand, our students gain the confidence and knowledge to make empowered decisions about their future.”
