CAREERSOURCE BROWARD WELCOMES KRIS HOPKINS AND DR. KELLY MOORE TO BROWARD WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – CareerSource Broward is pleased to announce the appointments of Kris Hopkins, Port Agent and Assistant Vice President, Seafarers International Union of North America, and Dr. Kelly Moore, Ed.D., President of Keiser University’s Fort Lauderdale campus, to the Broward Workforce Development Board Inc. (BWDB). They join an accomplished group of more than 25 influential leaders from the business, labor, education, and nonprofit sectors who provide strategic direction and governance for Broward County’s workforce development system.

Representing Broward’s maritime industry, Hopkins will offer insight into the needs of both workers and employers. His background in organized labor adds a valuable perspective to board discussions on workforce strategy and industry alignment.

Dr. Moore brings higher education leadership and experience with a focus on career-aligned programs. She joins fellow education leaders, FAU Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Stacy Volnick and Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn, contributing a valuable perspective on connecting education with workforce needs.

“Kris and Dr. Moore bring distinct strengths to the board,” said Carol Hylton, President/CEO of CareerSource Broward. “They will add valuable expertise from key sectors of Broward’s economy. Their insights will help guide the board’s strategic direction and strengthen our ability to support a competitive workforce.”

“I am honored to serve on the board representing Broward’s maritime industry,” said Hopkins. “I look forward to contributing to the board’s work and ensuring our workforce strategies reflect the realities of local industry needs, which are critical to Broward’s continued economic growth.”

“Career-focused education and workforce development go hand in hand,” said Moore. “As a first-generation college graduate, I understand the importance of clear pathways to credentials and careers. I look forward to serving on the BWDB and working with board members to expand opportunities and strengthen pathways for Broward residents.”
