CareerSource Broward Announces Board Member Appointments

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – March 13, 2023 – CareerSource Broward, the administrative entity of the Broward Workforce Development Board, named two new members to fill recently opened Board vacancies; Mark Schaunaman, and Tara Williams.

“We are delighted to welcome Mark Schaunaman, and Tara Williams to our board,” commented Carol Hylton, President, and CEO of CareerSource Broward. “Each of these remarkable individuals brings insightful perspectives on key workforce issues facing both employers and job seekers. We look forward to the contributions they will offer to our team.”

Mark Schaunaman, Business Manager, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 487, and President, AFL-CIO South Florida Building Trades Council

Since 2011, Mark Schaunaman has served as the Business Manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 487 based in South Florida. Since 2016, Schaunaman has served as the President of the AFL-CIO South Florida Building & Construction Trades Council. He earned his master’s degree, Union Leadership & Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

CareerSource Broward plays a key role in driving Broward County’s economy by stimulating employment opportunities and elevating the skills of employees and job seekers alike,” stated Mark Schaunaman.

Tara Williams, Director, Broward County Human Services Department

Tara Williams serves as the Director of Broward’s Human Services Department. In this role, she leads more than 650 direct service and administrative professionals responsible for the County’s human services areas. Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Sociology, and a master’s degree in Psychology.

Reflecting on her appointment, Tara Williams said, “It is my pleasure to join the Broward Workforce Development Board to provide guidance and oversight to CareerSource Broward as it carries out its vital mission on behalf of job seekers, employees, and employers.”

CareerSource Broward is governed by a workforce board known as the Broward Workforce Development Board and the CareerSource Broward Council of Elected Officials, which consists of the elected mayors of Fort Lauderdale and City of Hollywood, and a Broward County Commissioner.
