Below is the latest data released by FloridaCommerce for Broward County's May 2025 unemployment rate. Also included is information for the South Florida area.

Broward County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 3.3 percent in May 2025. This rate was 0.4 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.9 percent. The region's May 2025 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.5 percent. The labor force was 1,086,514, up 3,441 (+0.3 percent) over the year. There were 35,534 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In May 2025, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Sunrise MD was 936,500, an increase of 9,800 jobs (+1.1 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+3,800 jobs); Government (+2,100 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+2,000 jobs); Other Services (+1,400 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+900 jobs); Financial Activities (+700 jobs); and Manufacturing (+500 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 3.4 percent in May 2025. This rate was 0.3 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.1 percent. The region's May 2025 unemployment rate was 0.1 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.5 percent. The labor force was 780,445, up 3,954 (+0.5 percent) over the year. There were 26,860 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In May 2025, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 712,100, an increase of 9,400 jobs (+1.3 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+6,300 jobs); Government (+1,500 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+1,400 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+700 jobs); Manufacturing (+500 jobs); Financial Activities (+200 jobs); and Construction (+100 jobs).

    Miami-Dade County¹

    • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade County) was 2.7 percent in May 2025. This rate was 0.4 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.3 percent. The region's May 2025 unemployment rate was 0.8 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.5 percent. The labor force was 1,430,550, down 21,544 (-1.5 percent) over the year. There were 38,626 unemployed residents in the region.
    • In May 2025, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,356,600, an increase of 23,700 jobs (+1.8 percent) over the year.
    • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+7,900 jobs); Education and Health Services (+6,200 jobs); Mining, Logging, and Construction (+4,500 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+1,500 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+1,200 jobs); Government (+1,000 jobs); Manufacturing (+700 jobs); Financial Activities (+600 jobs); and Other Services (+500 jobs).
