Below is the latest data released by FloridaCommerce for Broward County's August 2026 unemployment rate. Also included is information for the South Florida area.

Broward County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 4.4 percent in August 2026. This rate was 0.4 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 4.0 percent. The region's August 2026 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 4.6 percent. The labor force was 1,071,312, down 4,193 (-0.4 percent) over the year. There were 47,386 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In August 2026, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Sunrise MD was 914,500, a decrease of 600 jobs (-0.1 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+3,200 jobs); Government (+1,200 jobs); Construction (+500 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+500 jobs); and Manufacturing (+400 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 4.6 percent in August 2026. This rate was 0.3 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 4.3 percent. The region's August 2026 unemployment rate was equal to the state rate of 4.6 percent. The labor force was 773,792, up 566 (+0.1 percent) over the year. There were 35,862 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In August 2026, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 703,200, an increase of 4,800 jobs (+0.7 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+2,200 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+1,800 jobs); Government (+1,200 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+600 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+600 jobs); and Other Services (+200 jobs).

Miami-Dade County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade County) was 2.7 percent in August 2026. This rate was 0.3 percentage point lower than the region's year ago rate of 3.0 percent. The region's August 2026 unemployment rate was 1.9 percentage points lower than the state rate of 4.6 percent. The labor force was 1,446,920, up 22,398 (+1.6 percent) over the year. There were 38,626 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In August 2026, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,349,400, an increase of 6,200 jobs (+0.5 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Professional and Business Services (+5,300 jobs); Education and Health Services (+4,600 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+2,900 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+300 jobs); and Other Services (+200 jobs).
