Below is the latest data released by FloridaCommerce for Broward County's August 2025 unemployment rate. Also included is information for the South Florida area.



Broward County¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 4.1 percent in August 2025. This rate was 0.5 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.6 percent. The region's August 2025 unemployment rate was 0.3 percentage point lower than the state rate of 4.4 percent. The labor force was 1,093,872, up 1,546 (+0.1 percent) over the year. There were 44,982 unemployed residents in the region.
- In August 2025, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Sunrise MD was 929,300, an increase of 7,000 jobs (+0.8 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Leisure and Hospitality (+2,900 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+1,800 jobs); Other Services (+1,600 jobs); Government (+1,500 jobs); Financial Activities (+1,000 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+700 jobs); and Manufacturing (+100 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 4.4 percent in August 2025. This rate was 0.6 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.8 percent. The region's August 2025 unemployment rate was equal to the state rate of 4.4 percent. The labor force was 782,056, up 465 (+0.1 percent) over the year. There were 34,785 unemployed residents in the region.
- In August 2025, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 702,700, an increase of 4,900 jobs (+0.7 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+2,900 jobs); Government (+1,300 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+900 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+700 jobs); Other Services (+500 jobs); Construction (+300 jobs); and Manufacturing (+200 jobs).

Miami-Dade County¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade County) was 2.9 percent in August 2025. This rate was equal to the region's year ago rate of 2.9 percent. The region's August 2025 unemployment rate was 1.5 percentage points lower than the state rate of 4.4 percent. The labor force was 1,446,713, with no change over the year. There were 42,078 unemployed residents in the region.
- In August 2025, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,345,200, an increase of 16,100 jobs (+1.2 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+6,100 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+5,700 jobs); Mining, Logging, and Construction (+3,800 jobs); Financial Activities (+2,400 jobs); Other Services (+500 jobs); and Government (+300 jobs).

State of Florida Unemployment Data
- Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in August 2025, up 0.1 percentage point from the July 2025 rate, and up 0.4 percentage point from a year ago. There were 424,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 11,196,000. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in August.
- Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 10,048,400 in August 2025, a decrease of 4,100 jobs (less than -0.1 percent) over the month. The state gained 98,200 jobs over the year, an increase of 1.0 percent. Nationally, the number of jobs rose 0.9 percent over the year.
- Nine of ten major industries experienced positive over-the-year job growth in August.
