Below is the latest data released by FloridaCommerce for Broward County's April 2026 unemployment rate. Also included is information for the South Florida area.
Broward County¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 4.4 percent in April 2026. This rate was 1.2 percentage points greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.2 percent. The region's April 2026 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 4.6 percent. The labor force was 1,072,179, down 5,959 (-0.6 percent) over the year. There were 46,983 unemployed residents in the region.
- In April 2026, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Sunrise MD was 922,400, a decrease of 5,600 jobs (-0.6 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+1,700 jobs); Government (+1,300 jobs); and Construction (+400 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 4.5 percent in April 2026. This rate was 1.2 percentage points greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.3 percent. The region's April 2026 unemployment rate was 0.1 percentage point lower than the state rate of 4.6 percent. The labor force was 775,083, down 4,583 (-0.6 percent) over the year. There were 35,129 unemployed residents in the region.
- In April 2026, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 710,000, a decrease of 3,800 jobs (-0.5 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+2,800 jobs); Government (+900 jobs); and Professional and Business Services (+700 jobs).

Miami-Dade County¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade County) was 3.1 percent in April 2026. This rate was 0.6 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.5 percent. The region's April 2026 unemployment rate was 1.5 percentage points lower than the state rate of 4.6 percent. The labor force was 1,443,635, up 11,015 (+0.8 percent) over the year. There were 44,689 unemployed residents in the region.
- In April 2026, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,365,900, an increase of 2,000 jobs (+0.1 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Professional and Business Services (+6,500 jobs) and Education and Health Services (+4,500 jobs).

State of Florida Unemployment Data
- Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.8 percent in April 2026, up 0.1 percentage point from the March 2026 rate, and up 1.1 percentage points from a year ago. There were 532,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 11,150,000. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in April.
- Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 10,032,900 in April 2026, an increase of 40,500 jobs (+0.4 percent) over the month. The state gained 15,800 jobs over the year, an increase of 0.2 percent. Nationally, the number of jobs rose 0.2 percent over the year.
- Seven of ten major industries experienced negative over-the-year job growth in April.
