CAREERSOURCE BROWARD WELCOMES COMMISSIONER BEAM FURR TO THEIR COUNCIL OF ELECTED OFFICIALS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –

CareerSource Broward (CSBD) is excited to announce the appointment of Broward County Commissioner Beam Furr to the CareerSource Broward Council of Elected Officials. Commissioner Furr joins an esteemed group of local leaders, including Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean J. Trantalis and Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy, in guiding workforce development initiatives and fostering economic growth throughout Broward County.

With a deep connection to the Broward community and decades of dedicated public service, Commissioner Furr brings a wealth of experience and a passion for creating innovative solutions to local challenges. A lifelong resident of the area, Furr has represented Broward County's District 6—which includes parts of Dania Beach, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Pembroke Park, and West Park—since 2014. In 2018, he served as Mayor of Broward County. Prior to his role on the Broward County Commission, he served as a Hollywood City Commissioner for 12 years and worked as an educator at Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines.

“Commissioner Furr’s dedication to public service and his deep understanding of Broward County’s unique needs will be invaluable as we continue our mission to connect individuals with meaningful employment opportunities and support businesses in meeting their workforce demands,” said Carol Hylton, President/CEO of CareerSource Broward. “His leadership and collaborative approach will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to build a resilient and inclusive workforce in Broward County.”

The CareerSource Broward Council of Elected Officials is a vital component of the organization's governance structure. The council's role includes helping job seekers, economically disadvantaged adults and youth, and dislocated workers find employment services; identifying external challenges that could impact workforce development; and advocating for federal and state workforce initiatives.

“Having grown up in Broward and worked here most of my life, I am honored to join the CareerSource Broward Council of Elected Officials,” said Commissioner Furr. “I believe that by working together, we can tackle the workforce challenges our community faces, expand opportunities for all residents, and help build a stronger, more inclusive economy.”

CareerSource Broward’s initiatives aim to address a variety of workforce challenges, including access to training, transportation, and job placement. Programs like On-The-Job Training (OJT), Incumbent Worker Training (IWT), and skills development workshops are just a few of the resources available to job seekers and employers.
