CareerSource Broward Launches 2025 Summer Youth Employment Program
1,200+ Students Begin Training for Paid Summer Jobs at Over 400 Worksites Throughout Broward County
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (June 3, 2025) – Over 1,200 students will be placed with over 400 employers throughout Broward County, as CareerSource Broward (CSBD) proudly launches its 2025 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Youth ages 16 to 18 will gain valuable paid work experience this summer, earning $14 per hour for up to 30 hours per week from June through August.
Before starting their jobs, the students will attend a three-day Employability Skills Training designed to strengthen their workplace readiness, communication, teamwork, and professionalism. These sessions will be taking place June 9–11 at four Broward County high schools.
“The Summer Youth Employment Program is about building discipline, confidence, and the foundational skills young people need to succeed in the workplace,” said Carol Hylton, President/CEO of CareerSource Broward. “When we invest in our youth, we’re investing in our future workforce.”
SYEP offers hands-on work experiences in government, nonprofit, business, and education sectors, preparing students for real-world expectations and responsibilities.
“SYEP gives our students the opportunity to gain valuable experience and discover the power of their potential,” said Dr. Howard Hepburn, Superintendent of Broward County Public Schools. “We’re grateful for this partnership and the life-changing opportunities it creates.”
The program is primarily funded by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County, with additional support from Broward County, the City of Fort Lauderdale, and others.
