The average hiring manager takes less than 20 seconds to decide whether to throw your résumé in the rejected stack or call you in for an interview.
While unemployment levels may change over time, one thing remains certain: your résumé can make or break your chances to land an interview. And there are some things that can be immediate deal breakers, depending on the recruiter or the hiring manager who reads your résumé.
There is an old adage which says, “You only get one chance to make a first impression.” With the current demand for labor, job seekers are at an advantage when it comes to applying for jobs. However, that is not to say that you do not need a well-written résumé. Employers still want to find and hire the best employees for each open position, and résumés are the first step in that search.
As you write and revise your résumé, there are a number of issues that may be preventing you from getting that interview. In the CareerSource Broward webinar on “Résumé Preparation,” job seekers will learn how to improve their résumés to increase their chances of landing in the employers’ “YES” pile and eventually getting the interview.
Our professional workshop facilitators are passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience to provide exceptional tools for helping job seekers get ahead. “Résumé Preparation” is a 60-minute class offered at no cost to you. It is available as a virtual class on Wednesdays at 1pm and Thursdays at 3pm. It is also offered as an in-person class in the South Office on Mondays at 11am, in the Central Office on Tuesdays at 9am, and at the North Office on Fridays at 1pm.
