Online Virtual Job Fairs Being Offered In May, June

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – April 27, 2020 – CareerSource Broward will be hosting biweekly online virtual job fairs in May and June in order to help connect job seekers with employers that have immediate hiring needs. The next upcoming virtual job fair will take place Friday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Available positions at the upcoming event include customer service representatives, retail stock associates, cashiers, licensed insurance agents, nurses, accountants, electricians and more. Companies scheduled to participate include the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Census Bureau, American Medical Depot, Walmart, Walgreens, Domino’s, ScribeAmerica, Premier Aircraft Service and more.

“There are still people out there who are hurting financially due to the impacts of COVID-19,” said Mason C. Jackson, President/CEO of CareerSource Broward. “Large portions of our economy have been shut down, especially the hospitality, retail, tourism, arts and entertainment sectors. Seeing that our region has been asked to practice social distancing, these series of virtual job fairs will provide individuals with the opportunity to seek and apply for immediate positions without risking their health and well-being.”

Individuals can participate in the online events by using their smartphone, tablet or computer. They will have access to an online portal to view multiple employer “booths.” Several company representatives and HR recruiters will be able to chat with job seekers from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Job seekers will also be able to upload their résumé to their online profile and leave it at the employer booths of their choice. They can also review job descriptions, apply for open positions and attend virtual webinars from participating employers when available.
