Local Veterans and Their Families Encouraged to Take Advantage of CareerSource Broward’s New Get There Faster Program Grant for Job Skill Training and Employment Assistance

Fort Lauderdale, FL – July 11, 2022 – CareerSource Broward has wonderful, engaging and flexible employment training programs for Broward County Veterans, transitioning Military members and their eligible spouses! The Get There Faster program is a No -Cost training and upskilling program designed to get military-connected families into a career in a desired industry, quickly, through paid On-the-Job Training programs or flexible training courses that provide users with access to over 100 credentials and certifications in many industries. The program is designed to increase knowledge and skills to meet the needs of unemployed or under-employed veterans and their eligible family members.
Additional aspects of Get There Faster include:
- Career Pathway Exploration which allows job seekers to understand the skills required for in-demand careers and receive a training plan.
- Opportunities to participate in work-based learning such as paid on-the-job training where job seekers will earn-while-they-learn
- Access to a database of online, self-paced courses with a variety of skill tracks
- Access to the state job database which connects participants to employers who have current job openings.
- Training for industry-recognized certifications that can be completed in 90 days or less.
- Access to computers and other needed course materials during training.
- Assistance with job search and interview attire.
- A Success Coach partner to help you along the way.
Get There Faster Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Competitive Grants aim to ensure all Floridians have access to education and training that lead to career paths for in-demand, middle-to-high wage jobs. Through competitive grant opportunities, funding is available to address priority programs and initiatives that will have a long-term impact on participants to gain and retain employment and attain self-sufficiency.
“CareerSource Broward’s Get There Faster Program is outstanding”, said Waldamer Pedaloza, a Veteran participating in the program. “It has set me on a new career path where I am learning new skills that will allow me to earn a better wage.”
In addition to employment and training opportunities, these funds will support referrals to community partners who are able to provide additional supportive services to assist veterans and their families on their path to economic self-sufficiency. Some of the services the partners provide include housing assistance, financial counseling, access to military benefits, and mental health and substance use assistance.
