FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – November 17, 2021 – Today CareerSource Broward announced its selection to receive one of only four awards directed to workforce development boards through funding from the Get There Faster: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Governor's Reserve Funds. On Veterans Day, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that $8.6 million will be distributed throughout the state to serve military veterans and spouses seeking employment.
CareerSource Broward will partner with Broward County Veterans Services, Henderson Behavioral Health Services and the United Way to engage and serve more homeless and disabled veterans and others through job training, apprenticeships, paid work experience, and credentialing programs.
"At CareerSource Broward, it is our privilege to serve those who have served our country," said CareerSource Broward President and CEO Carol Hylton. "Veterans are a priority for our team. Nearly 75,000 veterans reside in Broward County and play a vital role in the overall success of Broward's economy. We are honored to be selected as a recipient of the Governor's Get There Faster Grant. This funding will allow us to expand employment assistance, career training and support services to our military community in Broward."
In addition to the grants announced on Veterans Day, CareerSource Broward is preparing to host its ninth annual Paychecks for Patriots hiring event, focused on providing opportunities for military community members and other job seekers.
