Below is the latest data released by FloridaCommerce for Broward County's October 2023 unemployment rate. Also included is information for the South Florida area.



Broward County¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 3.0 percent in October 2023. This rate was 0.4 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.6 percent. The region's October 2023 unemployment rate was equal to the state rate of 3.0 percent. The labor force was 1,121,695, up 43,230 (+4.0 percent) over the year. There were 33,897 unemployed residents in the region.
- In October 2023, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano BeachDeerfield Beach MD was 924,800, an increase of 23,900 jobs (+2.7 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Professional and Business Services (+7,300 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+6,600 jobs); Education and Health Services (+5,400 jobs); Financial Activities (+4,000 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+1,900 jobs); and Other Services (+300 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 3.2 percent in October 2023. This rate was 0.5 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.7 percent. The region's October 2023 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point above the state rate of 3.0 percent. The labor force was 792,420, up 21,399 (+2.8 percent) over the year. There were 25,641 unemployed residents in the region.
- In October 2023, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 686,300, an increase of 9,300 jobs (+1.4 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+6,100 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+4,500 jobs); Government (+1,700 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+1,300 jobs); Financial Activities (+300 jobs); Construction (+200 jobs); and Manufacturing (+100 jobs).

Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties¹
- The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade and Monroe counties) was 1.6 percent in October 2023. This rate was 0.7 percentage point lower than the region's year ago rate of 2.3 percent. The region's October 2023 unemployment rate was 1.4 percentage points lower than the state rate of 3.0 percent. The labor force was 1,424,922, down 10,642 (-0.7 percent) over the year. There were 22,367 unemployed residents in the region.
- Miami-Dade County had the lowest unemployment rate (1.6 percent) in the CareerSource South Florida region followed by Monroe County (2.0 percent).
- In October 2023, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,319,300, an increase of 44,300 jobs (+3.5 percent) over the year.
- The industries gaining jobs over the year were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+15,200 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+11,900 jobs); Education and Health Services (+8,500 jobs); Government (+5,700 jobs); Manufacturing (+3,200 jobs); Other Services (+3,000 jobs); and Financial Activities (+1,100 jobs).

State of Florida Unemployment Data
- Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.8 percent in October 2023, unchanged from the September 2023 rate, and up 0.1 percentage point from a year ago. There were 318,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 11,174,000. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in September.
- Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 9,824,000 in October 2023, an increase of 28,400 jobs (+0.3 percent) over the month. The state gained 278,400 jobs over the year, an increase of 2.9 percent. Nationally, the number of jobs rose 1.9 percent over the year.
