Below is the latest data released by FloridaCommerce for Broward County's February 2024 unemployment rate. Also included is information for the South Florida area.

Broward County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Broward region (Broward County) was 3.1 percent in February 2024. This rate was 0.4 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.7 percent. The region's February 2024 unemployment rate was equal to the state rate of 3.1 percent. The labor force was 1,094,428, up 22,991 (+2.1 percent) over the year. There were 34,143 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In February 2024, nonagricultural employment in the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach MD was 925,200, an increase of 16,600 jobs (+1.8 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+6,200 jobs); Government (+4,600 jobs); Education and Health Services (+3,900 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+3,600 jobs); Other Services (+2,800 jobs); and Construction (+700 jobs).

Palm Beach County¹

  • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Palm Beach County region (Palm Beach County) was 3.3 percent in February 2024. This rate was 0.6 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 2.7 percent. The region's February 2024 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point above the state rate of 3.1 percent. The labor force was 783,252, up 11,606 (+1.5 percent) over the year. There were 25,461 unemployed residents in the region.
  • In February 2024, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach MD was 697,700, an increase of 9,100 jobs (+1.3 percent) over the year.
  • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+5,700 jobs); Government (+3,000 jobs); Construction (+2,100 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+1,700 jobs); and Manufacturing (+600 jobs).

    Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties¹

    • The unemployment rate in the CareerSource South Florida region (Miami-Dade and Monroe counties) was 1.6 percent in February 2024. This rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the region's year ago rate of 1.8 percent. The region's February 2024 unemployment rate was 1.5 percentage points lower than the state rate of 3.1 percent. The labor force was 1,453,589, up 26,054 (+1.8 percent) over the year. There were 23,900 unemployed residents in the region.
    • Miami-Dade County had the lowest unemployment rate (1.6 percent) in the CareerSource South Florida region followed by Monroe County (2.1 percent).
    • In February 2024, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall MD was 1,324,500, an increase of 35,600 jobs (+2.8 percent) over the year.
    • The industries gaining jobs over the year were Leisure and Hospitality (+10,700 jobs); Education and Health Services (+8,100 jobs); Mining, Logging, and Construction (+3,900 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+3,100 jobs); Government (+2,600 jobs); Financial Activities (+2,300 jobs); Manufacturing (+2,200 jobs); Other Services (+1,700 jobs); and Professional and Business Services (+1,400 jobs).
